Lilburn passes geocache policy similar Gwinnett Parks
The Lilburn City Council recently approved a geocache policy for geocaches placed on property owned by the city. The policy will provide guidelines, regulations, permit applications and records for each geocache and geocache location.
Geocaching is an outdoor activity that involves participants using a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, at specific locations marked by coordinates.
Among the new policy’s regulations, all geocaches on property owned by Lilburn requires an approved permit from the city. All geocaches must be monitored and maintained at least once a month for the life of the geocache. Geocaches that are not monitored and maintained may be removed and discarded. All geocaches must be family friendly and appropriate for all ages.
Geocaches may NOT contain food, alcohol, firearms, drugs, dangerous items, or adult items.
Bryson Park and portions of Lions Club Park are not the city’s property. Applicants should contact Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation if interested in placing geocaches at either of these locations.
