  • Challenge Period: Monday 10/11/21 to Sunday 10/24/21
  • Deadline for Submitting Proof: Wednesday 10/27/21 by 11:59 pm
  • Points Apply to: November drawing with prizes awarded at the December event

One of the reasons why geocaching in GA is so great is our relationship with the Georgia State Parks. In 2021, a new GeoTour was launched which included brand new caches at all 45 parks! The parks were divided into 4 regions (Mountains, Lakes, Plains and Swamp). There is a passport for the tour and if you collect 9 codewords from a region, you can submit your information from the tour to earn a souvenir coin.

For this challenge, we will be focusing on the Plains region. There are 10 caches in this region. We will be dividing this challenge into two parts as described below.

When you think of Plains, you picture flat lands where you can see for miles at a glance. Flat level ground can be conducive for hiking. So get out your hiking boots and walking sticks because part of this challenge will require hiking.

Some synonyms for plain are ordinary and simple. What is the most ordinary and simple geocache? A 1.5/1.5 park and grab.

Wanderer level: Find caches that have a 1.5/1.5 D/T and the park and grab attribute.

Seeker level: Find caches that have a 1.5/1.5 D/T and the park and grab attribute and 2 caches that have the short hike (< 1 km) attribute.

Explorer level: Find caches that have a 1.5/1.5 D/T and the park and grab attribute, 2 caches that have the short hike (< 1 km) attribute and caches that have the medium hike (1 km - 10 km) attribute.

Adventurer level - Find caches that have a 1.5/1.5 D/T and the park and grab attribute, 2 caches that have the short hike (< 1 km) attribute, caches that have the medium hike (1 km - 10 km) attribute and 1 cache that has the long hike (> 10 km) attribute.

Bonus options - Available for all levels except the Wanderer level. Each bonus can only be used once.

  • You may substitute 2 caches that require hikes (small and medium) by finding a State Park cache in the Plains region.
  • You may substitute 1 cache that requires a hike (long) by using your Mega Bonus points.
  • You may substitute 1 cache that requires a hike (long) by finding additional 15 1.5/1.5 park and grab attribute caches.

Send your proof of completion to ggachallenges2021@gmail.com by the deadline to earn your points and chances in the drawing! Include the following details in your email (if you are attaching a bookmark list, please make sure that the list is public):

  • Your geo-nick
  • Your real name
  • The level for which you qualify
  • Your qualifying caches with dates found
  • Please tell me if you earned any bonus points.

As always, we encourage you to share any non-spoiler photos from your adventures in the 2021 album on FB! And you can follow the GGA on Instagram @georgiageocachers
