Introducing the Georgia Geocaching Puzzling Society!

Do you LOVE puzzles?  Are you terrified of puzzles?  Do you want to get better at puzzles?  If any of this applies to you, we have some exciting news for 2022!

We* LOVE puzzles.  Because of this, we wanted to help encourage the entire geocaching community to become better puzzlers!  To this end, we have created the Georgia Geocaching Puzzling Society (GGPS)!

The GGPS will serve Georgia by building on three key foundations:

  1. Education: we will feature a variety of ways to educate the community on being a better puzzle solver.  These will include in-person training, online resources, and more!
  2. New Puzzle Cache Creation: we will support creative ways to encourage new puzzle caches to be developed as well as recognize outstanding puzzles placed by YOU!
  3. Community: We will create an opportunity for networking in the Geocaching Puzzling community.  This will include a new Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/theggps), as well as monthly events, held in different locations around the state to encourage participation!

To help encourage this, we will have some fun incentives for those that attend meetings and for those that hide caches.

Starting January 29th, we will host a monthly event.  The first event will be held at the Winder Public Library in Winder, GA.  The GC code for the event is GC9M43P, and the link for the event is here:  https://coord.info/GC9M43P (Note: at the time of this post, the event has not yet been published, so check back in a couple of days for the link to work…).  Going forward, we will host an event in a different location the fourth weekend of every month!!!

We should be up front and clarify that the intent of this group is NOT to share coordinates for solved puzzles.  We are hoping to better equip cachers with the tools that will allow them to get those themselves!  We hope to cultivate an interest in Geocaching puzzles and see the community grow!

We are excited to present this to you and hope you are excited to learn more as well!  Be sure to be there for our inaugural event!

*”We” are the Puzzle Posse.  The Puzzle Posse formed in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic struck.  We met online, 1-3 times a week, with the purpose of becoming better at solving puzzles.  We are NOT the best puzzlers in the state (Or even possibly, our home towns), but we have grown to love puzzling so much, we wanted to give to the community!
