The Georgia Geocachers Association (GGA) does many things for the geocaching community. One of our favorite things is recognizing people that have made the game better in Georgia. We formally recognize this through the GGA Hall of Fame (HOF).
Nominations for the HOF can be submitted by anyone and are gathered from across the state. The nomination forms are thoroughly reviewed by the GGA steering committee and a final list of inductees is chosen. New for this year, an opportunity was given to the past HOF inductees to select one candidate for induction!
At the GGA event today, we formally inducted three new members to the Georgia Geocachers Hall of Fame. Those people (in alphabetical order) were:
Annie Nordstrom (Annie!/Slayerette): Annie began caching in 2001 and was there to watch the game evolve in Georgia. She served on the GGA Steering Committee and was instrumental in raising funds to allow the GGA to create meaningful events. She is cited as a major influence to many of the people who helped establish the game in Georgia. She has hidden 48 caches, including adopting the world famous “Beaver” cache (the oldest cache in Georgia!)!
Daniel Hocieniec (Danhoc82): Dan has been caching for almost 10 years. He has hidden over 100 caches and also contributed by serving a term on the GGA Steering Committee. Today, Dan is probably best known for his YouTube channel, “Adventures With Dan”. He has published over 300 videos here that help to educate, entertain, and highlight some of the great geocaches in Georgia!!
Tina and David Pilgrim (PilgrimsProgress): Tina and David have been caching since 2006. They were a part of the Going Caching crew, helping to put on Georgia’s most famous mega event! They started the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) Group based in the Augusta area, which contributed to the creation of a number of quality geocaches. They have hidden over 200 caches, including our personal favorite, the “Georgia County Challenge”!
These are just a few of the things this great folks have done to make the game better in Georgia!
Please join us in thanking them for their contributions and welcoming them to the GGA Hall of Fame!!!
