Cache Cleanup!

Cache Cleanup!

Good morning GGA!!!

We hope you are all staying healthy, safe and happy during this crazy time. ????

In case you didn’t know, HQ has extended the CITO souvenir through August 31st. Typically the GGA foregoes a monthly meeting in April to host numerous CITOs to aid in getting the souvenir as well as beautifying the state in which we love to cache!! ???? We will get some CITOs on the calendar as soon as it is safe and smart to do so.

The GGA Challenges will also remain on hold until we are no longer required to shelter in place.

However, we have decided to throw a slightly different type of challenge your way. ???? As some of you may have noticed, a bunch of caches were archived back in February. For those that didn’t notice, we had over 200 caches archived due to inactive COs. Many caches were neglected and in need of repair but some were still found with some frequency but were archived due to inactive COs. ???? This has left us with over 200 pieces of trash out there littering our beautiful state!! ????

We are attaching a bookmark list of these recently archived caches. Our challenge to you is to see if we can help clean up these archived caches and potentially win a CITO coin at the next GGA meeting. ????

The rules:

1- Only archived caches on this list are included.

2- Each participant may earn as many chances in the coin raffle as they can (provided you find the container ????), however, please document them here as well as making a note on the cache page that it has been picked up.

3- You must post a photo of you with the archived cache container and GC code in the comments of this post. Please use #cachecleanup to label the images as well so we can keep track of who participates.

We hope you enjoy our fun take on a CITO type of challenge that is also a great one for social distancing!! ????

Cleaning up cache can help improve your computer's performance and free up valuable storage space. Here are the steps to clear cache on different platforms:

Windows: You can clear cache on Windows by using the Disk Cleanup utility. To access this tool, open File Explorer, right-click on the main drive (usually labeled C:), and select "Properties." In the Properties window, click on the "Disk Cleanup" button. From there, you can select the types of files you want to delete, including temporary files and system files.

MacOS: On a Mac, you can clear cache by using the built-in "Manage Storage" feature. To access this feature, go to Apple menu > About This Mac > Storage. From there, you can review the types of data stored on your Mac, including cache files, and delete the ones you no longer need.

Chrome: To clear cache in the Chrome browser, click on the three dots in the upper-right corner of the window, select "More Tools," and then "Clear Browsing Data." In the Clear Browsing Data window, select the types of data you want to delete, including "Cached images and files," and then click on the "Clear Data" button.

Firefox: To clear cache in the Firefox browser, click on the three horizontal lines in the upper-right corner of the window, select "Options," and then "Privacy & Security." In the Privacy & Security window, scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section, and then click on the "Manage Data" button. From there, you can select the types of data you want to delete, including cache files, and then click on the "Remove Selected" button.

These are just a few examples of how to clear cache on different platforms. If you're using a different browser or operating system, you may need to follow slightly different steps.
