Meeting notes: September 13, 2003

Our September Meeting was held in Southwest Atlanta near Fayetteville at the Kiwanis Fields Pavilion.

We discussed the upcoming Cache In Trash Out event near Lake Hartwell in Northeast Georgia. The GGA is going to perform a clean up of several areas around the lake. The Corps of Engineers is looking for some help to clean up areas around boat landings and some fishing areas. They are also encouraging us to place caches in hopes of having other cachers clean up the area on a continuing basis.

We also mentioned the upcoming GGA 2004 calendar. Cachers were asked to be thinking about photos they have taken near caches and on the trail to caches. We had a great calendar in 2003 and look forward to an even better one in 2004.

The end of the year also brings us to the Outstanding Cache nominations. GGA members need to be thinking about some of those great caches we have been to. Caches that won last year can be nominated again. If a cache was great back then it may very well be one of the outstanding caches in GA still today. This is a great way to highlight some of the fantastic caches and lets visitors to our state know some of the highlights of Geocaching in Georgia.

Our 2004 Challenge Event is also around the corner. We asked for a few volunteers and talked a little bit about the upcoming challenge. More details will come out at our October meeting.
