Meeting notes: June 7, 2003
GGA Members:
On June 7, 2003 the Georgia Geocachers Association held its 24th meeting at Terrell Mill Park east of Marietta. There were 25 members in attendance plus 6 new members. Brad (gpsfun) opened the meeting and explained that this park was the site where a group of geocachers met two years ago to discuss the Georgia Parks issue, and that meeting resulted in the formation of the GGA.
Greg (mtn-man) gave a review of the first two years of the GGA. The organization had formed because the Georgia State Parks had banned geocaching and a small group of geocachers decided to make a combined effort to address that issue. The first year of the GGA was mostly business: state parks, designing logos, and setting up internet communications. Here follows some of the highlights of the second year.

Ed (DaRebel) announced a GGA campout at Unicoi State Park on June 20,21, and 22. The main organized events will be on Saturday the 21st. For more details, check the posted cache page on geocaching.com or the thread on the GGA discussion board.
Brad (gpsfun) announced that he would be resigning from the GGA Steering Committee. He will be missed, especially by those of us on the Steering Committee who fully realize how much he does for the GGA.
Steven (st_richardson) talked about a mailer available for processing disposable cameras.
Door prizes were donated by the members and a drawing was held. It seemed that the Lacy's won much of the loot, but several non-Lacy's also left with prizes.
Greg (mtn-man) organized a GPS activity after the meeting and most attendees participated. Greg also had placed a micro-cache in the park. Tim (The Yoyo Man) placed a special multi-micro in the park for the meeting and cachers were seen "following the arrow" around the park in search of the prize at the end of the hunt.
A group picture was taken at this meeting, check the event cache page (GCG05R) to see the results.
The next meeting is on July 12th . The event cache has been posted on geocaching.com for waypoint number GCGAA4, so check it out and... be there!
Keep on caching,
CharlieP
