June 9, 2001 Meeting Notes

Greetings to all.

During the Atlanta Area Geocachers' Gathering on Saturday, several participants indicated a need for a discussion group mailing list so we could share ideas on forming an association, addressing the issue with Geocaching in parks, and generally promoting the sport/hobby/game of Geocaching in Georgia. Hopefully the list described below will meet this need.

Currently this list is not moderated, and individuals may opt in or opt out of the list as they choose. It is my expectation, however, that discussions will be polite and respectful of others. Since most of us now know each other, the unseemly behavior often associated with anonymous posting should not be an issue here.

We will be discussing strategy for improving our relationship with the administration of the various park services, as well as forming an association which will enable us to be recognized as more than just individual voices. We would like to keep the membership of this list to those who share these interests, so please do not post the list address or subscription instructions on any public forums. Please feel free to forward the subscription instructions to like-minded friends of Geocaching.
